The Metro Public Health Department, Air Pollution Control Division of Nashville, has issued a public notice as part of its ongoing efforts to regulate air quality. An application for a new construction permit and/or a synthetic minor operating permit has been filed in accordance with the city's stringent air pollution control laws. This step ensures that any new source of air pollution or modification to an existing source is thoroughly reviewed and held to regulatory standards meant to protect the public's health and the environment.
As detailed in the public notice announced on the Nashville.gov last Friday, the application falls under several local provisions: the Metropolitan Code of Laws, Chapter 10.56, Air Pollution Control, including specifically Section 10.56.020 on Construction Permits, and Section 10.56.040 on Operating Permits. Additionally, the application is also under the scrutiny of Regulation 3, "New Source Review," which calls for, public notification and a 30-day public comment period.
Residents and other interested parties have the opportunity to review the application package, which is made available for public inspection at the Metro Public Health Department, located on Charlotte Avenue. This transparency is a critical component of the air quality management system, allowing for community participation and oversight in decisions that impact the air they breathe every day. Comments on the application must be submitted by June 29, and can be directed to the Air Pollution Control Division via email at [email protected].
