
A chilling assault took place in the quiet streets of Needles, California, where a 66-year-old resident, James Bryan, was identified and arrested after a video surveillance captured him attacking a victim with a golf club. The incident, which occurred on the morning of May 24, 2025, left the victim with multiple injuries indicative of the violent nature of the assault; subsequent warrants led to the discovery of the suspect's clothing, linking him to the crime.
According to the report released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Front Street following reports of the assault, the victim, whose identity remains confidential, had suffered serious injuries and the perpetrator was nowhere to be found, but witnesses stepped forward sharing details that kickstarted the manhunt. Eyewitness reports and the subsequent video evidence pointed unequivocally to Bryan as the man wielding the golf club against the defenseless victim.
On Tuesday, a follow-up search warrant executed by deputies brought them to an address on Davidson Lane in Needles, where Bryan's incriminating clothes were retrieved, leading to his arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse, as outlined by the authorities. Bryan was booked at the Colorado River Station jail, and with bail set at $40,000, he now awaits a court hearing to answer for his alleged actions.
