New Life Village, a haven for children affected by the foster care system, is set to open new sports and play facilities tomorrow. The new athletic complex includes a football/soccer field, a basketball court, and updated playground flooring. This addition comes as a further enhancement to the community's resources, which supports families with children who have been in foster care or are at risk of entering the system, along with senior citizens serving as mentors and tutors.
The unveiling marks a significant investment in the New Life Village campus, with Hillsborough County contributing more than $900,000 towards this project. The county has been a consistent supporter, having previously funded a splash pad in 2019 and 16 new townhomes in 2023, as part of an effort to improve the quality of life for the Village's residents.
According to information obtained by Hillsborough County's newsroom, celebrations during the ribbon-cutting event will include games of football and basketball, a barbecue lunch, music provided by a DJ, and a special dedication of the basketball court to 'fallen heroes'. Residents and visitors are invited to join the festivities starting at 11 a.m. at 49626 Venice Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33619.
The strategic addition of the sports fields and improved playground is more than just a recreational upgrade for New Life Village. It represents a commitment to nurturing the well-being and development of children and families in the community. The ceremony tomorrow coincides with this mission, offering a day for residents to come together and enjoy the new facilities. More information on the event can be found at Hillsborough County's newsroom.
