New York City’s annual Fourth of July celebration will include a fireworks display launched from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges on the East River. Up to 100,000 free tickets will be available for residents to access designated viewing areas for the Macy’s Fireworks show. The event marks both Independence Day and the 400th anniversary of New York City.
Mayor Eric Adams expressed enthusiasm for the celebration, stating, "Every New Yorker deserves a chance to celebrate under the sparkle of the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks," and assuring that "100,000 lucky residents will have front-row access to one of the city's most iconic events," in a statement obtained by CBS News New York. The fireworks serve as both a major visual display and a prelude to the 250th anniversary of American independence next year.
To get a head start on securing free passes, early birds can text "FIREWORKS" to 917-909-2288, with the first 2,500 responders receiving four tickets before general distribution begins. Those who miss the initial window can visit the ticket website starting at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, where tickets will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees can claim up to four tickets for Brooklyn Bridge Park or up to two for Pier 16 or 17 at The Seaport, as reported by NBC New York.
While tickets are required for access to Brooklyn Bridge Park, the fireworks can also be viewed from several public vantage points along the FDR Drive. According to Mayor Adams, entry will be available at Montgomery Street and Madison Street, Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place, the Brooklyn Bridge On/Off Ramp, Broad Street, and Water Street. Emphasizing inclusivity, Adams told NBC New York, "our administration is making sure this celebration is for everyone."
