
An incident unfolded today in Midwood, Brooklyn, where an attempted robbery resulted in gunfire at a local post office. According to reports from ABC7NY, at around 1:15 p.m. a suspect opened fire during a heist at the post office situated at 1288 Coney Island Ave.
The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, managed to quickly flee the scene on a black moped heading north on Coney Island Avenue after the shooting. Police confirmed that there were no casualties in the sudden eruption of gunfire. To assist with the investigation, police have recovered ballistics from inside the post office, which may help identify the suspect.
Further details provided by CBS News described the suspect as a helmet-wearing individual brandishing a red backpack. The suspect’s actions during the day have resulted in an ongoing search by authorities and heightened activity in the neighborhood.
