A PRT bus became engulfed in flames this past Sunday at a Ross Township garage, according to authorities. The incident was reported just after 5 p.m. at the garage located on the 4600 block of Perry Highway. An investigation into the fire revealed that a live wire had fallen on the vehicle, sparking the blaze, as WPXI reported.
Crews arriving at the scene found no passengers or driver aboard the bus, which had been parked at the time of the incident. The nearby garage had to be evacuated as a precaution while firefighters addressed the fire, which was caused by a downed power line. Despite the intensity of the flames, no injuries were reported, according to WTAE.
The electrical mishap prompted an emergency response from Ross Township firefighters, who successfully controlled and extinguished the fire. The PRT representatives have yet to comment on the extent of the damage or the impact on their operations.
