
A north Phoenix community is grappling with the aftermath of a deadly house fire that occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were summoned to a residence engulfed in flames at approximately 1:30 p.m., per reports from authorities. The address, identified by the Phoenix Fire Department, was 13849 N. 38th Street, KTAR News states.
Upon arrival, the fire crew encountered a grave scenario with heavy smoke and fire bellowing from the home. "As firefighters made entry they found one victim (adult male) unconscious and not breathing," Capt. Todd Keller described the scene, which was related by FOX 10 Phoenix. The victim, an 80-year-old man whose identity remains unseen, was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
The quick response and efforts of the firefighters successfully contained the blaze and averted potential damage to neighboring homes. Unfortunately, one firefighter sustained burn injuries amid the rescue and firefighting operations and was necessitated transportation to the hospital for treatment, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
