In a sobering reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, a Novato resident was arrested for DUI following a hit-and-run incident yesterday. Christian Quiroz, 39, caught the attention of Novato Police Officers after a victim flagged them down and provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle’s license plate number, as detailed in a social media post by the Novato Police Department.
The hit and run took place around 12:40 PM, with the suspect fleeing east on Ignacio Blvd., ignoring a red light, and nearly triggering another collision. Officers later found Quiroz on Digital Drive, and he exhibited signs of intoxication upon their contact. He was subsequently arrested and safely booked into the Marin County Jail, facing charges of DUI, hit & run, and driving without a license.
The Novato Police Department used the occasion to remind the public of the importance of road safety and responsible behavior. "Never drink and drive," they emphasized. They also urged people not to allow others to drive if they have been drinking, call 911 to report drunk drivers, ensure sober rides home from gatherings, and highlight the life-saving habit of always wearing a seatbelt.
