The New York Police Department is actively seeking information regarding a series of early morning burglaries at commercial establishments in Brooklyn. There have been two incidents within a week, both involving an unidentified individual forcibly entering small businesses and removing cash and goods.
According to a social media post released by NYPD Crimestoppers, the first burglary occurred on May 22, at around 3:34 AM. An individual reportedly managed to cut a front gate using metal pliers at a venue on 36 Avenue O, within the 62nd Precinct. The perpetrator made away with "multiple packs of cigarettes valued at approximately $882 and a cash register valued at approximately $500". They were seen fleeing to parts unknown.
A similar episode followed a week later, on May 29 at about 5:00 AM, this time within the realm of the 70th Precinct on 1612 Avenue H. The suspect used, yet again, a bolt cutter to gain access to another commercial entity. Once inside, they are said to have used a laundry cart to brazenly break a coin machine. Approximately $250 was stolen, alongside property damages estimated around $1100. The individual fled the scene westbound on Avenue H.
