Amid the fabric of charity and trust, a thread has been pulled that threatens to unravel the goodwill of many. Dennis Grundy, the former head of Open Arms Village, a nonprofit organization aimed at providing support to homeless men in Ocala, has been arrested on charges of grand theft and organized fraud.
The accusations emerged from a detailed investigation conducted by the Ocala Police, which pointed to a spree of unauthorized financial maneuvers by Grundy—ranging from illegitimate checks to dodgy credit card transactions further peppered with manipulated PayPal activities—and this, between the years of 2023 to 2025, according to WFTV.
These acts, which police allege were shrewdly designed to conceal the misappropriation of funds from the organization's board members, have led to felony charges against Grundy, including grand theft of $100,000 or more and organized fraud of $50,000 or more. After the arrest on June 20, Grundy was released on bond from the Marion County Jail on Monday, as reported by WESH.
