In a startling event that uprooted the quietude of an Odenton neighborhood, police responded to an attempted robbery yesterday. The victim, who was merely enjoying the nocturnal respite on his front porch, was thrust into a confrontation with a man brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The incident unfolded on the 600 block of Cadbury Drive, where the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Robert John Fetz of Odenton, Maryland, accosted the victim, demanding money.
According to an Anne Arundel County press release, the would-be quiet of 1:20 a.m. was shattered when the victim, whose identity has been withheld, engaged in an ensuing physical altercation. In the fray that followed, the victim managed to disarm the assailant. Upon arrival, officers were able to locate and arrest Fetz, who confessed to pointing a BB gun at the victim in what he claimed to be a prank gone awry. The weapon, a gray and tan/gold XCP BB gun, was retrieved at the scene.
Fetz now faces charges for his actions, with the authorities processing the incident without further complications.
