The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory until 9 AM CDT for parts of central, east central, and southern Oklahoma. Areas affected include Oklahoma City, Norman, and other nearby cities. Due to recent heavy rain and the chance of up to an inch more, minor flooding is expected, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Urban flooding is also possible. Residents should avoid driving through flooded roads and follow the warning: "Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads."
A Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday afternoon for central to western Oklahoma, as reported by the National Weather Service. The watch includes areas that may be affected by heavy rainfall and rising water levels. "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the advisory states. People in these areas are advised to monitor weather updates and follow instructions from local emergency officials.
