Today, Oklahoma City is set to close its municipal offices and suspend many city services, making room for the thousands expected to attend a historic Champions Parade. City Manager Craig Freeman stated, "Closing will also make more parking available for the thousands of people attending the parade." The city has announced that normal operations will resume the following day, June 25.
City closures will impact various services including trash and recycling pickups, set to be pushed tomorrow, with the exception of bulky waste pickup which remains unaffected. The Municipal Court will cancel all dockets for today, and all cases continued without assessing a continuance fee, as reported by OKC.gov. Defendants and attorneys can expect notifications of new court dates and are directed to handle payments online at okc.gov.
For those needing to conduct business with the city, online services remain available at okc.gov. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center and Animal Welfare operations will be closed, while OKC Parks facilities outside the downtown area, including camps, community centers, and pools, will maintain normal hours.
The parade also prompts changes in public transportation. EMBARK's downtown Transit Center will be inaccessible, relocating to a temporary site at Lot R at OK State Fair Park. All regular fixed-route buses will operate on the hour, but with no night service running after 7 p.m. The OKC Streetcar service will be suspended until parade's end, with normal service expected to resume once cleared by Oklahoma City Police Department. EMBARK Plus and Mobility Management paratransit service will maintain its 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. service hours, with users advised to confirm destination accessibility.
Residents and visitors requiring transportation assistance or information are encouraged to contact EMBARK Customer Service, which will be operating from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
