Los Angeles was the scene of a violent machete attack that left one man dead and another injured in the early hours of Sunday morning. KTLA reported that the incident began with a call to LAPD at 12:17 a.m., with officers dispatched to the intersection near 11th Street and South Grand Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a man in his 60s with severe wounds from what seemed to be a machete strike.
The second attack was reported shortly thereafter, with another male victim around 35 years of age discovered at Broadway Street and Olympic Boulevard with similar injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the older victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, while the younger victim was in stable condition following transportation by paramedics, as noted by ABC7. The identity of neither victims has yet to be released.
Authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect, a man possibly in his 20s to 30s and standing 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was found with an object that appeared to be the weapon used in both attacks, CBS Los Angeles reported. The police apprehended the shirtless suspect at 15th Street and Broadway, though a motive has yet to be discerned or disclosed by the officials.
