Last night, a fatal car collision at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and Park Street claimed the life of one individual and left another critically injured. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that a Honda sedan and a Honda SUV collided under circumstances that they are still investigating, though high speed may have been a factor, according to Action News Jax.
The impact occurred around 9:51 p.m. and was severe enough to cause "great deal of vehicular damage to both vehicles," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office conveyed to First Coast News. The male driver of the Accord, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman, mid-40s, was extracted from her vehicle and rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Further grim details from News4Jax state that the collision sent the Honda SUV careening down a 40-foot embankment on the west side of Blanding Boulevard. The driver of the Accord appears to have been ejected from his vehicle before his death.
Sgt. Robert Hungerford of the JSO Traffic Homicide Unit clarified that after a thorough search of the wooded area, no other victims were found.
