A tragic event unfolded in Stanislaus County as sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a large fight at a house party on the 5400 block of Jennie Ave in Keyes this past Saturday night. Reported via the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office Facebook, the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:42 p.m., sadly resulted in one fatality, several injuries, and involved a stabbing.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered two women with stab wounds, one of whom was unresponsive on the ground, the other conscious but injured. Immediate medical attention was given until emergency medical services arrived. Although life-saving measures were attempted for the unresponsive victim, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a hospital for further treatment. Additional individuals at the party also suffered varying degrees of harm, from being punched, kicked, to being struck in the head with objects.
The sheriff’s office secured and searched the house where the party took place, detaining several individuals who were inside. After being interviewed by detectives, they were later released. The office is actively following up on leads and requests that anyone with information or cellphone footage of the event come forward.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses. "Detectives are actively following up on leads and attempting to identify the suspects in the investigation," the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office statement explained. The Office has made it known that bystanders who recorded the brawl but were not participating had captured the violence on their cell phones.
