An intense rescue operation conducted by the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force has successfully recovered over 20 missing children from Northeast Florida in a span of three days. The operation, led by the National Child Protection Task Force (NCPTF), a nonprofit renowned for using real-time intelligence and advanced technology in its investigations, worked in unison with the Tim Tebow Foundation to bring these children to safety.
According to a Facebook post by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the partnership among agencies was critical to the operation's success, deploying every available resource with urgency and compassion to ensure the children's safe return. Especially proud of the SJCSO staff who were instrumental in the operation, Sheriff Rob Hardwick praised the dedication of the personnel involved. "Our investigators and all personnel worked tirelessly," Hardwick stated, recognizing the efforts that helped reunite the lost with their families.
Still active, many of these investigations are keeping the specific details confidential to protect the children involved. Law enforcement officers, alongside child protection professionals, prosecutors, and social services providers, scrutinized each case meticulously, developing leads and planning out strategies to not only recover the children but also to secure their ongoing safety and stability.
In a heartfelt statement acknowledging the participants, Howard “Skip” Cole, SJCSO Director and Executive Board Chairman for INTERCEPT, highlighted the human element of the operation. "The real heroes are the men and women who worked tirelessly during this operation and continue to devote their time and energy to protect the most vulnerable in our communities," Cole said. Bringing together multiple agencies and private organizations, the task force also benefitted from the technological prowess and strategic resources of Operation Light Shine, a nonprofit committed to strengthening law enforcement capabilities, as detailed by SJCSO.
The Northeast Florida Intercept Task Force, through the support of Operation Light Shine, combines the expertise of Homeland Security Investigations, FDLE, along with various local sheriff's offices including Clay County, St. Johns County, Jacksonville, Putnam County, Nassau County, and Flagler County Sheriff's Offices.
