An Oxnard man was justly convicted by a Ventura County jury for a series of horrific sexual assaults. According to the district attorney's office, Dustin Ronald Alba faced nine felony counts, including forcible rape and sodomy, victimizing five women over eight years. The evidence presented during the trial culminated in the jury's finding on Monday, agreeing to multiple special allegations, among them the targeting of vulnerable victims and abuse of trust.
Alba's modus operandi, often involving social media and dating apps, tricked his victims into false comfort before their horrifying ordeals. After a day spent with a woman who explicitly stated no interest in a casual hook-up, Alba, charged with contempt for her agency, attacked her in his Oxnard home. Deputy District Attorney Rosa Romero said, "While justice for these victims was delayed, their verdict means that it was not denied."
Further investigation implicated Alba in additional assaults as his phone texts unveiled a grim pattern of predatory behavior. One victim, a minor at the time, symbolized the depth of Alba's depravity.
Alba, whose actions inflicted untold damage, awaits his July 9 sentencing with the possibility of spending up to 111 years in prison, as he stays confined without the option of bail.
