Yesterday afternoon, a vehicle fire in Palm Coast quickly escalated, resulting in damage to an estimated 16 vehicles. According to WFTV, the fire commenced at a car yard off County Road 207 when a vehicle, which was being moved at the time, ignited and the flames began to spread uncontrollably. Nine vehicles were significantly damaged by the blaze, while another six suffered from the effects of radiant heat.
Quick action by the Palm Coast firefighters managed to reduce what could have been more severe damage significantly. The WESH report indicates that first responders were able to get the fire under control within just 10 minutes. Their prompt intervention helped quickly salvage what could have otherwise turned into a much larger disaster.
Spectators and staff members at the scene could only watch as the fire rapidly moved from one vehicle to another. The aftermath of the incident left a yard with charred and heat-ravaged vehicles, amidst the acrid smell of burnt rubber and metal. Despite the extensive property damage reported, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
The origin of the fire is currently under investigation, and more information will be shared with the public as it becomes available.
