Last night, a small fire broke out on the third floor of Bethlehem Housing, prompting a response from Pasco County Fire Rescue. The incident occurred around 7 p.m., causing the building's sprinkler system to activate and swiftly douse the flames. Officials have reported that there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Following the activation of the sprinkler system, significant water damage has necessitated the evacuation of approximately 30 residents from the affected building. These individuals are currently being assisted by the Red Cross to secure temporary housing, as per Pasco County Fire Rescue's social media update. Residents and passersby are being urged to avoid the area to enable the first responders to work unimpeded.
The updated statement from Pasco County Fire Rescue indicated, "First responders are expected to be on scene for an extended period of time." They further detailed that, the fire, though contained quickly, has led to the evacuation as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents.
