
A pedestrian was struck and killed on GA 400 Wednesday afternoon, prompting a temporary highway closure. According to Alpharetta police, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. near the Old Milton Parkway overpass. The affected section of the highway reopened around 5 p.m.
Police say the man climbed a fence and entered the roadway before being hit by a vehicle. His motive remains unknown, and no further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident. The victim was transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Technicians, where he later died from his injuries.
According to 11Alive, the northbound lanes near Old Milton Parkway were closed except for the far-left lane during the emergency response, leading to significant traffic delays. Traffic has since returned to normal.
Alpharetta Detective Captain R. Andrew Splawn confirmed to 11Alive that emergency personnel responded shortly after the incident. The Alpharetta Police Department's detectives and traffic enforcement officers are continuing to investigate. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released, and no charges have been announced.
