
Earlier today in Manhattan's Kips Bay, a fatal collision involving an MTA bus and a pedestrian claimed a life. According to the NBC New York, the accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. when a 41-year-old man crossing East 28th Street at the intersection with 3rd Avenue was hit by the northbound bus. The victim was subsequently rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the MTA bus stayed on scene, cooperating with the authorities. As reported by AM New York, the collision prompted a response from officers of the 13th Precinct and paramedics who provided aid to the severely injured man. Despite the morning's circumstances, normal traffic conditions were restored and roads reopened by 9:30 a.m.
The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed as of yet, and further details of the accident are scant while the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad continues to piece together the events. The MTA has not released a statement regarding the occurrence as the investigation is ongoing.
