A person was seriously injured early Sunday morning in Laketown Township after being hit by a pickup truck while trying to jumpstart a car on the side of Blue Star Highway. The incident happened around 1:53 a.m. near 63rd Street. The individual was between a disabled vehicle and another car when the crash occurred, according to WZZM 13.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said alcohol may have been a factor in a crash that led to the temporary closure of Blue Star Highway between 62nd Street and the 41-mile marker overpass on I-196, as noted by MLive. The victim was taken to the hospital, but details about their injuries were not released. Traffic was detoured while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
The road was temporarily closed after the incident but has reopened, as mentioned by WOODTV. The Douglas Police Department, Graafschap Fire Department, and the Michigan Department of Transportation responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and the names of those involved have not been released.
