After nearly three decades of flipping burgers and grilling chicken in Pembroke Pines, Char-Hut has shuttered its doors. The local favorite served its last meal to the Pembroke Pines community this June, a closure attributed to the sale of their building, as per an announcement on their social media platform and confirmed by Local10. The lease, they revealed, was not renewed by the new property owners.
The news comes with a mixture of sadness and anticipation, as the Char-Hut team also shared a glimpse of hope for their loyal customer base, "This is not the end for Char-Hut in Pembroke Pines," they stressed in the social media notice. Despite the closure, the search for a new location is underway, reflecting their commitment to remain a staple in the Pembroke Pines dining scene, "We are actively pursuing new locations and will hopefully have updates about where and when you’ll see us reopen soon!" as stated on their Instagram post.
Since 1976, Char-Hut has been family-owned and operated, serving made-to-order delicacies to generations of patrons. Their expansion throughout the years had led to multiple venues, with the closing of Pembroke Pines leaving Davie and Tamarac locations to continue the Char-Hut legacy.
The outpouring of support from the Pembroke Pines community did not go unnoticed. "We cannot be more thankful to the people of Pembroke Pines who we’ve had the privilege of serving these last 3 decades," the restaurant conveyed, acknowledging the integral role of their staff in their success. "Without them Char-Hut would be nothing more than another burger place. They are truly the heart of our operation, bringing joy, helpfulness and care to each of our guests." The community is eagerly anticipating the announcement of their next location, as highlighted in a recent Instagram post.
