A construction worker in north Phoenix found himself caught in a precarious situation on Thursday after becoming trapped in a deep trench during a morning shift. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near 64th Street and Mayo Boulevard, where emergency crews were called to the scene.

"Crews arrived and found one worker in a 12 foot by 27 foot wide trench who was partially trapped after his safe box slid. Firefighters assisted with the help of heavy equipment operators to move the safe box over the patient and made it safe to extricate him out of danger," Phoenix Fire Capt. Daniel Lee stated in an interview obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix.

The Phoenix Fire Department employed an excavator and rope systems to execute the rescue, culminating in the worker's extraction from the trench's considerable depth. Drawing from an account by AZ Central, "Using the excavator at the scene, along with rope rescue methods, crews were able to extricate the worker from the trench safely," said Capt. Daniel "DJ" Lee.

Following the successful rescue, the worker was transported to the hospital, maintaining a stable condition during the swift journey.
