
The Phoenix Police Department has made public a video briefing detailing the events surrounding a June 7, 2025, armed robbery and subsequent police confrontation at the corner of 48th Avenue and McDowell Road, as per a report published on the department's official website. The cautionary note warns of the potential distress the footage may invoke due to its graphic nature and strong language.
Described as a Hispanic male in his 20s clothed in black attire and a black hat adorned with yellow writing, the suspect's heist began in a hotel laundry room, evolving into an armed confrontation when the robbery was discovered the caller to 911 described how she had watched the suspect through surveillance footage as he filched her purse, and when confronting him, found herself staring down the barrel of his weapon. The suspect was reported to have fled towards 43rd Avenue, officers, armed with her account and the surveillance evidence, disseminated his description among themselves.
The pursuit culminated approximately an hour later when police, spotting a figure near a gas station on 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road, matched the description given of the man carrying what looked to be the stolen purse into a store and subsequently running, triggering a police chase that ended abruptly when an officer's vehicle collided with him. Officers responded to the incident by freeing the man's ankle, pinned under the vehicle, and securing the firearm tucked in his shorts, which matched that from the crime scene.
