
The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office is set to receive a substantial boost to its infrastructure and safety systems with the infusion of a $4.4 million grant, courtesy of Ohio's Jail Safety and Security Program. According to a social media post from the sheriff's office, this financial award was announced by Governor Mike DeWine and is earmarked for critical updates that aim to render the local jail facilities both safer and more operationally sound.
Expressing his thanks, Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey underscored the expected improvements, as per the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, stating, "This award will allow us to have a jail which is safer and equipment which is more reliable so the corrections officers can do their jobs efficiently and effectively."
Integral to the success of the grant application was the support of various key players, a fact not overlooked by Sheriff Hafey. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, as well as the Pickaway County Board of Commissioners, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout the rigorous application process.
