Pittsburgh CBP Intercepts Over Half a Million Dollars in Counterfeit Luxury Goods from UAESource: U.S. Customs and Border Protection

In a significant crackdown on counterfeit goods, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Pittsburgh have seized several fake Rolex watches and designer sunglasses, valued at approximately $573,000 if authentic. According to CBS News Pittsburgh, the contraband included 13 watches and 12 sunglasses intended to impersonate high-profile brands such as Burberry, Chanel, and Gucci.

The illicit shipment, which was found to arrive from the United Arab Emirates, was originally declared as "Empty Poly Bag Ladies Hand Bag" when inspected by authorities on April 27. However, the CBP was quick to thoroughly scrutinize and eventually detain the goods for further investigation, capturing counterfeit articles before they could potentially deceive buyers on the streets of Pennsylvania, as claimed by a report from Daily Voice.

By closely working with the trademark holders, the CBP's Consumer Products and Mass Merchandising Center of Excellence and Expertise confirmed the counterfeit nature of the goods, leading to their official seizure on June 6. As "unsuspecting consumers could be victimized twice by counterfeit products, such as these fake Rolex watches," acting Port Director James Hindes pointed out the dual harm done by such products, as detailed by Daily Voice.
