Authorities in Pittsburgh are piecing together the details after a grim discovery in a downtown apartment complex. Yesterday, the body of a man was found in the stairwell of the Allegheny Apartments, located on the 400 block of Forbes Avenue. According to WTAE, the incident appears to have been a tragic accident, with the man purportedly falling down multiple stories in an open stairwell, striking several pipes on his descent, and suffering severe trauma.
Public Safety officials were summoned to the scene following reports of an individual discovered deceased. They later confirmed that the man had indeed hit several pipes and was pronounced dead on the scene, as per a spokesperson for city police. No foul play is suspected in what appears to be a harrowing accident inside this downtown residential building.
Further information provided by Audacy indicated that the secured apartment complex had video footage. It showed the victim entering the stairwell on the 19th floor and experiencing the trauma that led to his fall.
