Authorities are on the lookout for a man accused of attempting to lure a young girl in Queens yesterday morning. The NYPD Crimestoppers unit took to social media to spread awareness and seek assistance in the case. According to their Facebook post, the incident occurred at approximately 7:35 AM in front of 33-37 97 Street, within the area covered by the 110 Precinct. The suspect is reported to have followed a 13-year-old girl and offered her money to engage in a sexual act.
The victim, demonstrating considerable presence of mind, managed to evade the suspect and escape to safety. With a persistence that underscores the alleged predator's menace, the man continued to follow her before eventually fleeing on foot heading southbound on 97 Street. The NYPD Crimestoppers are urging anyone with information to come forward. They have provided a hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and accept direct messages through their official X handle, @nypdtips, for any tips that may lead to the apprehension of the suspect in question.
As part of their efforts to track down the suspect, the NYPD has not yet released a description of the man involved. They are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the area and are hopeful that additional evidence will come to light that may aid in the suspect's identification.
