The office of Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark is welcoming an influx of new talent this summer, with 109 law school and undergraduate students selected for competitive internship positions. This year’s cohort is among the largest in the program’s history, drawing students from across the United States to gain hands-on experience in legal work within the Bronx. District Attorney Clark expressed enthusiasm for the program’s continued growth and the opportunity to mentor the next generation of legal professionals.

According to a press release from the Bronx District Attorney's Office, this summer's intern class includes a diverse group of 89 law students representing approximately 40 law schools from across the country, ranging from New York to California. Notably, eleven of the law students are Bronx natives, bringing a unique local perspective to their legal training. In addition, 20 undergraduate students are participating in the program, with at least a dozen of them also hailing from the Bronx.

This is far from a typical internship focused on clerical tasks. Interns at District Attorney Clark’s office are actively engaged in substantive legal work. The program offers a robust schedule that includes workshops, lectures, and educational field trips—all designed to develop the next generation of legal professionals. Under the supervision of the Office’s Legal Recruitment Bureau and Litigation Training Bureau, interns gain valuable insight into the criminal justice system. Additionally, law school interns may be granted a Student Practice Order, allowing them to appear in court and participate in legal proceedings under attorney supervision, providing a rare and meaningful hands-on experience.

Interns are not confined to a single assignment; instead, they rotate through various bureaus within the Office to gain broad exposure to different aspects of the legal system. The program runs from June 2 to July 25, offering participants nearly two months to absorb knowledge and gain practical experience.

"The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is excited to again have bright young minds from all over the United States participate in our summer internship program," District Attorney Clark shared in a statement brimming with enthusiasm, as per the Bronx DA's Office.
