Heads up, drivers and commuters in the Citrus Park area: brace yourselves for some road closure annoyances. According to an alert from Hillsborough County, a section of Race Track Road is going to be off-limits for a short time. From 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. next Monday, the stretch just north of South Mobley Road to Sri Chinmoy Street is set to fully close to traffic due to utility work that's necessary but bound to disrupt your usual routes.
The inconvenience doesn't end there. Following this three-day total closure, prepare to slowly navigate a single lane of Race Track Road. The southbound lane from just north of South Mobley Road to Sri Chinmoy Street will be out of action for six to eight weeks because of sewer force main pipe work taking place beneath the tarmac. To awkwardly keep traffic flowing, temporary traffic signals will be installed to allow northbound and southbound travel to alternately make it through the construction zone.
