The Round Rock Public Library is venturing beyond its walls to bring books, movies, and a spate of summer reading fun directly to the community, setting up temporary outposts in local parks as part of its "Library on the Go" initiative. According to an announcement made public through the City of Round Rock's official news release, the library staff will be on hand to facilitate park-goers to sign up for library cards, and residents will have the opportunity to check out a variety of materials right on the green lawns of their local recreational spaces.
The program is geared towards increasing library reach and supporting the residents by making a stop at City parks, Frontier Park and Mesa Village Park, on select Saturdays throughout the summer from 9-11 a.m; specifically, Frontier Park will host these events on May 24, June 28, and July 26 while Mesa Village Park will welcome the library on wheels on June 14, July 12, and August 9. Patrons eager to quench their literary thirsts or catch up on the latest movies will just need to present a valid government-issued ID card, such as a driver’s license, passport, or military ID, to obtain a Round Rock Public Library card on-site.
