As the rays of summer sunshine begin to promise longer days of fun, the City of Sacramento's Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment brings good tidings for swimmers and sun lovers alike. According to Sacramento City Express, the upcoming weekend of June 14-15 is looking especially bright with the department slashing entry fees to a mere $1 at neighborhood pools across the city.

Flipping the script on regular pricing, residents now have the chance to dive into summer without their wallets taking the plunge too deeply. Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment recreation manager Sjon Swanson shared the excitement with Sacramento City Express, "We’re excited that, with the opening of the newly converted Mama Marks Splash Pad and the reopening of Southside Pool, this will be the first summer since 2018 that all City aquatics facilities will be open." Despite being in a position to beam over the department's commitment, the community's access to safe and fun aquatic facilities seems to remain Swanson's true focal point for the summer season.

In addition to the celebratory entry fee, the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment continues to offer a variety of aquatics programs such as swim lessons, swim team participation, aquacise, along with recreational and lap swimming. These are set to heat up the summer at 12 lifeguarded neighborhood pools. Moreover, families with kiddos under 7 can wade in the cool shallows of four free play/wading pools. Detailed information about schedules and programs can be sourced from the Sacramento City Express official aquatics page.

Regular post-celebration pricing might not be as hot as the $1 deal, but with recreational swim ringing in at $3 for youth and $5 for adults, it's still not enough to send your summer budget into a meltdown. Over at the North Natomas Aquatics Complex, with their slightly higher entry fees of $7 for youth and $9 for adults, visitors can enjoy their services every day through August. Adding to the affordable fun, the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment has Youth Program Scholarship Funds up its sleeve to ensure free aquatics programs are a splash hit for financially strapped families, as detailed by the Sacramento City Express. Not to be overshadowed by their in-ground companions, spray parks and splash pads will also be in full operation from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend.
