The streets of San Bernardino and Redlands experienced a surge in law enforcement activity as authorities stepped up their efforts in a targeted crime suppression initiative known as Operation Consequences. From May 26 through Sunday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, in collaboration with various local and federal agencies, carried out a series of actions aimed at curbing local crime rates.
During this intensified week of operations, law enforcement officers were able to efficiently contact and investigate known gang members and individuals barred from owning firearms. Their efforts culminated in the seizure of five firearms and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. By the conclusion of the operation, 13 felony arrests and five misdemeanor arrests had been logged, signaling a significant blow to local crime networks.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors have clearly demonstrated their commitment to this cause, having authorized additional funding for these crime suppression initiatives. This funding is specifically intended to enhance the quality of life for the residents of affected communities by bolstering the resources available to the Sheriff’s Department.
According to a release by the Sheriff’s Department, Operation Consequences is set to unfold over the coming months. The expansive collaboration will include personnel from the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police Department, County Probation, the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Their proactive strategy is to systematically disrupt and dismantle criminal street gangs, alongside concerted efforts to locate and apprehend those involved in the illegal possession, manufacturing, and trafficking of firearms.
Anyone with information pertaining to these operations or related criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Gangs/Narcotics Division at (909) 387-3700. As Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus of the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department maintains, actions such as these underline the Department's ongoing commitment to curtailing violent crime and safeguarding the public across the county's jurisdictions.
