A Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office deputy made an important stop last week after noticing something unusual about a Chevy Suburban in the South County area. The license plates didn’t match the vehicle, and after checking, the deputy found that the plates had been reported stolen from a Jeep in Oakland. The Suburban itself had also been reported stolen from San Jose.

The vehicle wasn’t just stolen. It also carried a large amount of copper wire and pipes, enough to possibly rewire a small house. The 31-year-old Andrew Reyes driver was already on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) at the time. He gave a story that didn’t add up, and now, once again, he is facing legal trouble.

But the story takes an even darker turn. While the stakes were already high, Reyes decided to up the ante by attempting to smuggle drugs into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Talk about doubling down on a losing hand, it turns out Reyes is already familiar with the inside of a cell. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office relayed the details of this incident on their official Facebook page, detailing the list of charges that Reyes is now facing.

Those charges include, but are certainly not limited to, auto theft, possession of stolen property, and the theft of copper. Add to that the possession of drug paraphernalia, trying to sneak contraband into jail, and the violation of his PRCS.
