The Santa Monica Police Department is on the lookout for two individuals involved in the burglary of Amai Coffee on Pico Boulevard. According to KTLA, the break-in occurred just after 4:30 a.m. on June 23 when the suspects shattered the coffee shop's glass door. The Santa Monica PD relayed that although the early morning incident did not result in theft, it did leave the local business with about $1,000 in damage.
Detailed descriptions of the suspects have been provided by the authorities. The first man is described as having an average build and was attired in a black sweater, black face mask, blue jeans, and black shoes. His accomplice, also of average build, wore a black FILA sweater with white lettering, a red face mask, black pants, and black shoes. They were seen leaving the scene in a white or silver sedan. The police speculate that this incident might be associated with a previous burglary at the coffee shop, and another at the neighboring business, Dr. T House, three months prior.
The Santa Monica Police Department has also reached out to the public via its Instagram account. They posted surveillance footage of the incident and asked for community assistance. "Your support is vital in helping us maintain the safety of the Santa Monica community." shared the department in their Instagram post.
Officials have encouraged anyone with knowledge of the suspects or the vehicle to get in touch with Detective Sean Baker at [email protected] or Detective Sergeant Shaun Cooney at [email protected], or, by calling 310-458-8932.
