In Santa Rosa, police officers with the Special Enforcement Team (SET) arrested 21-year-old Anthony Escutia-Martinez on gun-related charges. According to a social media post from the Santa Rosa Police, the arrest occurred last Friday when SET officers recognized Escutia-Martinez, who they knew to be on active Sonoma County probation. They made contact while he was walking near Stony Point Road and Sebastopol Road just after 11 PM.
Carrying out a search as allowed by the terms of his probation, the officers discovered a loaded Glock handgun in a satchel worn by the suspect. The police officers, who the department developed to address the increase of illegal firearms and gun violence, booked Escutia-Martinez into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on multiple charges, included but not limited to the possession of a loaded firearm by a person not registered with the DOJ and carrying a concealed firearm in public.
The Santa Rosa Police Department has been particularly vocal about its ongoing efforts to curb gun violence and illegal firearms within the city. "The Santa Rosa Police Department is committed to making the City of Santa Rosa a safe place to live, work, and play."
