Over the next two weeks, various branches will receive significant technology upgrades, including new printing options, multifunction copiers, and an updated computer reservation system. For those visiting during the upgrades, be aware that services such as printing and copying may be temporarily unavailable, starting daily work at 8:00am according to a schedule posted on Scott County's website.
New printing services are among the headline improvements, offering library patrons the ability to wirelessly print documents. There are several methods available for printing, including Email to Print, a Mobile Upload Site for laptops, and traditional printing from a library PC. As an added convenience, if a printer is out at your local branch, the system will now hold onto your job so you can release it at any other Scott County Library, according to a recent release by the Scott County Library.
It's not just about printing, either. Each library is getting new copiers with easy-to-use touchscreen Pay Stations. Soon, these pay stations will also accept credit card payments, although cash is still king for transactions under a dollar. Alongside these new copiers, the libraries promise a more streamlined approach with all printing and copying centralized at these 'Super Stations'.
All public computers across the branches received upgrades late last year, and now, a new Online Reservation Site lets you reserve these systems in advance. Access requires a Scott County Library Card and a four-digit PIN, and for those extended access members, reservations are even possible outside of normal staff hours.
