As per Queen City News, Sherrills Ford – Terrell Fire & Rescue, Troutman Fire, and Iredell County are contributing to the rescue efforts around Channel Marker 20. During the incident, a woman was recovered from the scene by rescue crews and taken to the hospital, her status at the moment remains uncertain.
The NC Wildlife Commission did not disclose the events leading up to the reported drowning, and the search for the missing man continues, with officials requesting that the public maintain a safe distance from the area to prevent disrupting the sonar search with boat wakes, as mentioned by local agencies. Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire and Rescue, in particular, has appealed to those navigating the waters, emphasizing that boat wakes can impede the effectiveness of sonar equipment used in the search operations, the department further advised boaters to pass at the lake's perimeter without causing disruption and to adhere to instructions from law enforcement present on-site relayed WCNC Charlotte.
