A search is underway in the Soda Springs area where three individuals are feared drowned. The Placer County Sheriff's Office reported that it received calls shortly before 3 p.m. yesterday, after a group of people were seen entering the water at Heath Falls and failed to resurface. Emergency services, including the Sheriff's Office Dive Team and CAL FIRE's Technical Rescue Team, are engaging in a rescue operation further complicated by the remote and inaccessible terrain.
Through a social media post, the sheriff's office described the challenging conditions faced by the search and rescue teams. On top of the treacherous landscape, the fast-moving waters of Heath Falls pose a notable risk to divers and rescuers, who tirelessly work in hopes of locating the missing individuals.
The response to this incident has also involved resources from CHP, including a helicopter team that provides aerial support. Search and Rescue units of the sheriff's office are on the scene as well, reportedly scouring the waters and the surrounding dense forest for any sign of the individuals.
Details about the identities of the missing persons have not been released. The Sheriff's Office urges the public to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to perform their activities without hindrance.
