In the early morning quiet of Macon Road, a Dollar General became the latest target of what Memphis Police believe to be a serial burglary duo. At approximately 4:49 a.m. last Friday, two male suspects were reported to have broken into the 6690 Macon Road location using a conspicuous yellow crowbar. The Memphis Police Department, who arrived on the scene following a compelled entry alert, conveyed to the media that the two men were seen escaping in a dark-colored sedan.
Described in the surveillance footage, one of the suspects, of a heavy-set build, wore all-black attire and appeared to keep watch, while his accomplice, clad in a blue hoodie and black pants, managed the operation inside, retrieving empty cash drawers. According to a report by the Memphis Police Department, the same suspects might have previously hit Sunrise East at 5469 Poplar Avenue, an incident that sits heavy on the ledger of local law enforcement.
Memphis Police Department officials urge anyone with information to come forward. You can contact Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH. They hope tips from the public will help catch those responsible and stop more break-ins.
