
Residents in parts of central and northeast Missouri, should brace for potential severe weather conditions. In a statement released early this morning, the NWS warned of a possibility of thunderstorms that could hit the area through tonight. Some of these storms may reach severe levels this afternoon and evening, with concerns primarily focused on damaging winds, though risks of a tornado or two and large hail cannot be discounted, according to the National Weather Service St. Louis MO.
A Flood Watch is also in place for the region tonight, with flash flooding a significant concern, especially over central and northeast Missouri," the NWS reports. Localized heavy rainfall and flash flooding are possible once again on Wednesday morning, and residents are urged to keep an eye on updates and stay prepared for quick action should weather conditions worsen.
As for temperatures, St. Louis can expect a mostly sunny day today with highs nearing 89 degrees. South winds may reach 17 mph, with gusts up to 26 mph. For those planning their week, the chance of showers and thunderstorms persists through Monday, fluctuating between 20 percent and 70 percent as the week progresses. Overall, highs are expected to be in the 80s, with nighttime lows hovering around the 60s to low 70s.
The NWS also advises that spotter activation may be required this afternoon and evening, for parts of central and northeast Missouri and west central Illinois. Spotters, and the general public, are also asked to report any instances of heavy rainfall and flooding.
