In what has been a week marked by a series of thefts and disturbances in Shrewsbury, Missouri, the local police department has released a report detailing several crimes that took place from June 9 to June 15. The report highlighted an arrest made on June 9th in the 7200 block of Watson Road, where a subject was taken into custody for trespassing after repeatedly refusing to vacate the premises, despite being given multiple chances by the officers. According to the Shrewsbury Police report, the individual was found to have outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
Additionally, detections were made regarding two unsecured detached garages on Crathes Court that were entered and items stolen. The same area suffered another theft, with a business reporting the theft of a cell phone from a patron who had fallen asleep. The community is reminded to secure their property in light of these incidents, while authorities continue their investigations.
Theft and deceit were not limited to property crimes, with one Shrewsbury business being duped by an insufficient funds check. "On June 10th, a Shrewsbury business reported they received an insufficient funds check for product and the payee ignored the 10-day letter from the Saint Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office," stated the Shrewsbury Police report. Detectives are currently tracking down the responsible party.
Encounters with law enforcement due to repeat offenses were also chronicled in the report. Notably, on June 10, a known shoplifter, already trespassed from a business, was arrested once again in the act. And on June 12, the police had to employ a fingerprint scanner to unmask a fake identity provided by a shoplifter who had racked up multiple warrants for theft and trespassing, "at this same business," the Shrewsbury Police report reveals with an air of disbelief.
The Shrewsbury police also dealt with disturbances such as a June 13th incident involving a person threatening customers, leading to an arrest for peace disturbance following his refusal to identify himself. Over the span of the week, the officers' reach extended further, with a "Flock alert" leading to the retrieval of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of the driver, adding to the list of their enforcement actions detailed in the Shrewsbury Police report.
Beyond these highlighted events, the Shrewsbury officers responded to various other calls, including 11 auto accidents, 2 disturbance calls, 4 suspicious activity calls, and 8 theft calls. They also assisted in 29 calls with the Fire Department and conducted 28 traffic stops. The department's efforts depict an ongoing commitment to maintaining order in the city and addressing criminal activity promptly.
