Festival-goers hoping to rock out at Rock the Docks were met with some logistical setbacks as parking woes peaked this weekend. According to an update shared by the Springfield Township Police Department on their Facebook page, the Kubler Trail entrance had to be shut down because lots reached full capacity. "The Kubler Trail entrance to parking for Rock the Docks is now closed. The lots are full," said the department in their announcement.
Those still looking to catch the live music and festivities were directed to alternate entrances. "You can enter on west parkway or shanafelt and park on the east end of the festival," advised the Springfield Township Police Department. They also noted that additional parking options were made available at Gala Commons or Tri County Plaza, with a shuttle bus service promised to swiftly transport attendees to the event. The department further warned against illegal parking, emphasizing, "NO PARKING on the north side of the PD building (grass area) by the fire department/US 224."
With the city buzzing for the popular local event, the quick closures of parking facilities indicate a successful turnout but also a need for better logistical preparations in the future.
