The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri, has issued a weather forecast for the upcoming week, with a mix of fog, chances of showers, and potential thunderstorms in the region. Today's early morning fog and mist are expected to give way to a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before making way to cloudy skies, with a high near 77 degrees. Winds are anticipated to remain mild, blowing north at 3 to 6 mph, according to the NWS forecast.
Tonight, locals can expect the conditions to stay mostly cloudy, bringing a low around 67 degrees and a gentle north wind that will ease into calmness as the evening progresses. There is a persistent 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 am. Along with this, areas of southeast Missouri may face isolated thunderstorms that could produce damaging winds up to 60 mph and locally heavy rainfall this afternoon, according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook.
As for Friday, the NWS has forecasted a higher chance of precipitation with a 60 percent likelihood of showers and storms between 10 am and 4 pm. The clouds will hover with a high of 78 degrees, accompanied by a gentle, becoming north wind at about 6 mph in the afternoon. Spotter activation may be needed due to the potential severity of thunderstorms brewing around southeast Missouri.
The weekend's climatic script is partly cloudy skies with a 30 percent chance of showers and storms on Friday night, and temperatures settling at around 66 degrees. There is a 50 percent chance of showers, and possibly thunderstorms, on Saturday following a similar vein of weather, albeit mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. As Sunday rolls in, sunshine takes a stand with a high near 85, but still, a lingering 20 percent chance of showers doesn’t quite let the risk of rain slip away.
The coming days hold yet more chances of rain with Monday and Monday night both showing a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm and into the evening, as per the NWS latest forecast.
