A St. Louis man, Deandre Miller, 28, has been charged with the murder of Jorre Hadley, 24, following a fatal shooting on Mother's Day. Miller faces a litany of charges including first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child, as reported by KSDK. The incident occurred in The Ville neighborhood, notable for its historic African American community and now, tragically, the setting of a dispute with lethal consequences.

The shooting happened on May 11, shortly after Hadley had attended a Mother's Day service with her son. According to FOX2Now, the authorities responded to a call around 7:30 p.m. and found Hadley with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on the 4400 block of Maffitt Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The confrontation is believed to quickly have escalated over custody issues related to their 3-year-old son, who was also in the car during the shooting along with Hadley's siblings. KSDK detailed that Miller is also accused of assaulting a law enforcement animal and resisting arrest during his capture.

Upon his arrest on Tuesday, June 3, detectives had warned that Miller should be considered armed and dangerous, a necessity given his status as a convicted felon. First Alert 4 reported that during the search for Miller, officers called upon K-9 unit assistance to aid in his capture. It resulted in a physical altercation involving a police dog named Admiral.

Miller, who fled the scene of the shooting, was found and apprehended after officers executed a search warrant at a residence on the 4600 block of Korte Avenue. He reportedly put up resistance, even going so far to notably put a police K-9 in a headlock before being subdued, as stated by KSDK. He now awaits trial, held without bond, as the justice system seeks to process the consequences of a day that should have celebrated motherhood but instead was marred by violence and loss.
