Lonnie Robert Williams, a 56-year-old man from Stockbridge, was arrested for allegedly impersonating a nurse while attempting to get a job at Atlanta’s Legacy Nursing Care. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Williams is facing charges for practicing without a valid nursing license.

Investigators say Williams submitted a falsified nursing license during his job application. Last Thursday, staff at the facility began reviewing the Georgia list of nursing impostors and found his name. The discovery came as Williams was already in an interview for a nursing position.

WSBTV reported that Yvette Wells, director of nursing at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, expressed concern about the potential risk of having someone without proper credentials in a medical role. Jozell Simmons, also from the facility, said Williams had shown strong interest in becoming a nurse manager and claimed previous supervisory experience.

Williams, who also goes by the name Lonnie Releford, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, was charged with unlicensed practice as a registered professional nurse. He is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail on a $4,000 bond.
