A Knoxville food truck that had vanished earlier in the week was retrieved in Nashville, as confirmed by the Knoxville Police Department. The food truck, known as Dulcie's Cafe, had been reported stolen, and its disappearance was captured via security cameras that displayed what appeared to be a Home Depot rental truck taking off with it. The incident occurred at 701 N. Cherry Street in Knoxville, and it was later updated by the Knoxville Police Department that the trailer had been found and recovered in Nashville, as reported by WVLT.
The owners of the truck, which serves Jamaican cuisine, shared their distress about the theft with 6 News, stating, "We’ve had our windows broken in, we’ve had our doors replaced before, both of them, our food truck has been stolen once before." They recounted that after the prior theft, "We recovered it within a couple of hours, thanks to the community." Despite taking increased security measures by installing wheel locks and additional cameras, the truck was stolen yet again.
While the trailer has been located, the suspect behind the theft remains unidentified, and as of now, no arrests or charges have been reported. The investigation continues with the Knoxville Police Department on the hunt for the individual or individuals responsible for the crime.
The food truck heist is not a singular event in the narrative of Dulcie's Cafe. The business has been marred by previous crimes, prompting the owners to heighten security around their enterprise, as noted by WBIR. Their efforts, however, did not deter the culprits from absconding with the food truck for a second time.
