Residents of Hamilton County and the surrounding areas, brace yourselves for a summer of navigating through construction updates and detours. Interruptions in the flow of your daily commute are on the horizon.
Starting next week, commuters will face closures and restrictions as crews embark on various structure work within the I-71 corridor, and while the promise is to maintain the flow of traffic - particularly on northbound I-471 and I-71 - these disruptions are poised to test the patience of many a driver, with closures to the ramp from I-471 North to Liberty Street set for each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day between June 16 and 20, according to an update by Ohio Department of Transportation.
Moving on to the night owls' travel plans, adjustments will need to be made as I-71 South sees single-lane closures at the bridge over U.S. 42, also known as Reading Road, every night from June 17 through June 21 - the road will be narrowed from 9 p.m. until the early hours breaking at 6 a.m.
The culmination of the week's disruptions will see a full stop, a shutdown of I-71 North starting at the junction with I-75 and snaking through the Lytle Tunnel; this complete closure is scheduled for June 20 from 9 p.m. and lasts until 9 a.m. the following morning, this detour will see motorists redirected via I-75 North and S.R. 562 East in an effort to skirt the gridlock, all the while U.S. 50 East remains an open vein for those coursing through Columbia Parkway.
For those keen on remaining ahead of these interruptions, the Ohio Department of Transportation urges ongoing vigilance. There will be updates about lane and ramp closures for I-71 Bridge Maintenance in District 8 as they come online, and these will be critical for planning both nighttime escapades and early morning strides.
